My childhood years were spent listening to Rey Valera songs, mostly because my father loves them so much. Eventually, I could not get over the songs as they’ve crept up on me. Until now, I still love them. They have found a special place in my heart, filed right there in the compartment named “Love for Music”, just between “Love for Food” and “Love for Vacation Leaves”. (They’re arranged alphabetically for proper filing.”

Background: Reynaldo Valera Guardiano (a.k.a. Rey Valera) is a Filipino singer, songwriter, music director, film scorer, and television host. He made history through his songs which became theme songs for teleseryes and movies like Maging Sino Ka Man, Pangako Sa ‘Yo, Kahit Wala Ka Na, Tayong Dalawa, and Sinasamba Kita.

One of Rey Valera’s most popular hits, “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” became even more popular when it was used as a soundtrack for a Filipino Teleserye named after the song.
