Sa Kanya ~ MYMP

Background: ‘Sa Kanya’ is an OPM song originally sung by Ogie Alcasid, and later popularized by Gary Valenciano and M.Y.M.P. It is composed by Ito Rapadas, the vocalist of Neocolours, a band formed in 1988, during which time solo singers dominated the Philippine music industry. Along with immy Antiporda (keyboards), Marvin Querido (2nd keyboards), Josel Jimenez (guitar), Paku Herrera (bass) and Nino Regalado (drums), the band helped paved the way for band explosion in the 1990s.

In the Filipino language, there is no pronoun distinction between female and male. ‘He’ or ‘She’ translates to ‘Siya’. Likewise, ‘For/To Him’ and ‘For/To Her’ both translate to ‘Sa Kanya’.
